stiletto radio replay problem and general stiletto question(s)... please help if poss

Hi all, I am new to the forum and need your help.

Here is my first question... I had a stiletto 10 and whenever i would record say a two or three hour block of music when i got done there would be 10-20 of "radio replay" from the channels i recorded from. unfortunately my new stiletto 2 does not do this. currently, i am getting no radio replays whatsoever.

so, question number 1: what do i have to do to get the long (or any for that matter) "radio replays"?

here is my second and less important rant...

My Sirius history... i bought the status about a year ago and never have had any issues with it... called to get it hooked up and one year later still no problems at all with it. in fact, i had such a good first year with sirius that i decided to get the stiletto so that i could record music at home and have something to listen to at work (i work in the basement of a hospital where i get no signals or any type of wifi). being the cheap person that i am, i elected to get the sirius stiletto 10 from sirius.com b/c it was 79 usd (refurbished). long story short, i have a ton of issues with the SL10 and end up sending it back to sirius for a refund. since i had already paid for an extra year of service for the sl10 and i had my heart set on recording music and shows i decided to shell out the big bucks and get the sl20 in hopes that it would be better. i got it and have had unsuccessfull recordings (for instance tried to record BTLS and got a message while i tried to play it that said 'file empty - cant play'). tried to record btls again and it recorded the 1st 8mins of a 3 hour show and then mysteriously stops for no apparent reason. i decided to do the most recent updates in hope that they would resolve these issues... i finally get the updates to match what they were supposed to (i.e. zap add, broadbase, et cet) and then my service is mysteriously gone and it says that i have to call to activate it... i get on the phone with customer service and the lady sends signal like 10 times and nothing works... finally she suggests the device recovery... finally get it done and start getting music again. sorry for the looonnngggg story... but, here is question number 2: are the stiletto's really this crappy or am i just having some bad luck?

your help and insight is appreciated!!

    good day and best regards,

    ben

You may have just had some bad luck starting out. A device recover can set a lot of things straight. As for your recording "10-20 of replays" issue, I'm not sure as to what you are referring to. Could you be a little more specific?

OK, after talking to a couple of coworkers, I think we understand what you are saying and what your problem is. It could be possible that you do not have your radio replays turned on in your stiletto recording settings. Check with your settings and you may be set after changing it.

thanks for the reply I appreciate you taking the time to help.

I should have been more specific... i meant 10-20 hours of RR. My stiletto 10 would record 15-20 hours of RR after only listening to a station for 1 hour (approximately).

One of the first things that I did was check to ensure that RR was enabled; it was. However I could let a station play for anywhere between 10 mins and 10 hours and would come away with something like 15 mins to 30 mins of RR.

The device recovery and all of my other efforts to make my sl2 work all failed. i actually just got back from best buy where the guy said that i was welcome to exchange mine out for another one but he had a couple of others complain about the same thing. He could see/hear/feel my frustration and recommended that i consider xm's version of the stiletto. It does the same thing that i want out of the stiletto (records) and it cost 150 and comes with a free vehicle kit and home kit (i paid almost 500 dollars for the stiletto, car kit, subscription and insurance plan). so now i am going to try out xm's version and pay the extra 5 bucks to get "the best of sirius" and pray that the recording feature works better than the stilettos. sirius was kind enough to refund my subscription prices due to the ridiculous amount of nonsense involved with this issue.

I still have the stratus in my car and am enjoying it on a daily basis... i will have to decide in august if i will renew that one or not...

i am still a happy sirius stockholder and will continue to hope for the best with sirius... with that said, there are a few issues that really need to be ironed out.

I would try swapping one out with BB since they offered it. You may have the same luck though. Before you record anything make sure you have radio replays turned on and always turn off the SL2 (not sleep) after deleting. This will help you reformat your memory and save some recording issues. The XMP3 is nice but I love my SL2. I have had it for 4 months now, I record every day and I haven't had any issues nor have I had to do a device recovery yet.
