what is the nature of the $186 million charge on the siri q1 09 income statement notated "preferred stock and other adjustments". this charge reduced eps for q1 09 from -1 cent to -7 cents. in other words, without this charge GAAP profitability would have been only 1 cent away. can you imagine what the stock price would do? this is apparently a non-recurring charge. what is it? part of liberty? ...doctorex

Id go by todays closing action. If we dont close north of .35, .30 is possible.

loss of value vs. number of shares before the liberty deal vs. now. Basically thats the loss in value we took a hit on when we sold 40 percent of the company for a loan. voluntary write down, meaning siriusxm is accounting for those common shares to be added tothe issued shares count at some point. You would take the closeing price of the stock on 12/31 vs. the closing price on 3.31 , factor in a dilution hit of 40 percent, and that was i guess around 180 million.

I would actually put that number as we need to close at or above .36.

On another note i clicked on a recent article from the fool. Didnt realize it till I clicked. Darn it all.

Anyway it got me to thinking. I never have been part of the crew that thought an iphone app was a savior or something that would propel siri upward. Sure it will help with the cool factor and help get a buzz going maybe.

But where my idea came in was when it talked about all the competing apps that are for free internet radio. What if SIRI introduced a internet radio channel that was free for all. They could rotate content through so as to give a taste of what is different between normal free internet radio and siri .. mainly content!

    Just a thought.

o.k. if this accounts for loss of value for common owners due to new shares given to liberty, is the q1 09 item the end of it? is this non-recurring? because, if this (huge) item is out of the income statement next quarter (q2 09), then siri is on the verge of GAAP profitability right now, showing a GAAP loss for q1 09 of only 1 cent per share for q1 09 when the subject item is removed. doctorex
