Did you see the list this week? Not a bad group to be associated with. What do companies on that list have in common? Im researching Level 3 now. Never new too much about it. Seems they are all tech stocks. Im going to find something in common much deeper than that. There has to be some deeper connection, or commonality here.
Good call Relmor, thanks!!!
"Level 3 has essentially completed construction of its global IP network. In North America, the company has a 16,000 mile intercity network, 27 metropolitan networks and offers Internet infrastructure services in 56 markets. In Europe, Level 3 has completed approximately 3,600 miles of its planned 4,750 mile pan-European network, nine metropolitan networks and offers services in nine markets. The company also offers services in two markets in Asia and has transatlantic, transpacific and Asian undersea cable capacity completed or under development."
Sounds expensive. Huge initial start up costs? Went into huge debt? Communication infrastructure company. Fiberoptics? Is that considered old technology? They say they created their network to respond to technological advances. Anyone know anything about this?
Then theres this.
"Increased integration costs from eight acquisitions have led to a persistent operating loss over the past five years.[4][5] Furthermore, with AT&T (and its subsidiaries) accounting for 15% of its revenue, LVLT is sensitive to changes in AT&T.[1]
LVLT competes with Verizon Communications (VZ), AT&T (T), Qwest Communications International (Q), Global Switch, and Limelight Networks (LLNW). "
Just received new loans. Moodys has them at B1 rating(better than SiriusXM).
New money this week.
And this.... Interesting names involved.
"U.S. phone company Qwest Communications International is exploring a sale of its long-haul communications network, which could be valued at $2 billion to $3 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported on its website on Wednesday.
According to the Journal, possible bidders include AT&T [T 26.10 0.71 (+2.8%) ], Verizon Communications [VZ 32.10 0.42 (+1.33%) ] and Level 3 Communications [LVLT 1.03 0.05 (+5.1%) ].
"
Very interesting.
"BROOMFIELD, Colo., April 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Level 3 Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: LVLT - News) today announced an agreement with Open Range Communications to deliver wireless broadband to rural communities. Open Range will leverage Level 3's extended on-net services to offer high-speed Internet and voice services to millions of previously un-served or underserved communities across North America."
Seems like satellites would compete with these ground networks.

level three has alot of potential, They are leading the way when it comes to large content delivery and its only a matter of time before they are raking in the fcf. Lot of good news has come out of lvlt lately including them setting up a wave length network for telefonica which will open them up for another 250 million customers. They have said they will be fcf positive for 2009 although the have wanred 1st quarter will probably be the only quarter that will be fcf negative due to high operating expenses in the first quarter which wont be there the rest of 2009. I give level three 2 thumbs up ! !
option trading, only buying is available at ameritrade for 5$ a contract at 1.00 call price. if this stock ever movies higher and below 1$ we will be able to sell the 1.0 option calls for 5$ a contract. my guess many of us sirians own over 100,000 shares or 1000 contracts. than means $5K per 1000 contracts not a bad risk. if the stock ever gets to 2.00 then we can sell the contracts maybe 10$ or higher contract. that becomes real money each month.
i sold out of the money calls all the way down until i was prevented to when the lowest option was at stock price of 2.50 now with 1.00 call buy available and if again the stock moves higher we may look forward to selling the out of the money calls.
any thoughts
i have a gut feeling the iphone app will be coming out tuesday.. iphone just released their 3.0 update today so we shall see
Guys - popping in very quickly. Could use some help.
See my last post here: Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Good to see the humor has lightened up.
I hope you're right about the iphone app coming this week - that would be a nice change from this past 3 weeks torturous volatility.

One of the other boards, one of the more credible posters, is claiming there
will be a huge announcement this weekend. It has to be the IPhone.
That will open up a whole new opportunity for Sirius.
