    Emcore

    http://www.pv-tech.org/news/_a/emcor...enue_increase/

EMCORE Corporation has revealed revenue intake for the first quarter of fiscal 2009 as having increased by 15% from the same period last year. The preliminary unaudited financial results for the quarter, ended December 31, 2008, showed a $7.2 million increase on last year’s takings. Compared to the preceding quarter, the company showed an 11% loss in revenue; however, the photovoltaics segment’s revenue increased both year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter.

Revenue for EMCORE’s photovoltaics segment was $14.9 million, a 15% increase from $12.9 million reported for the same period last year, and an increase of $0.4 million, or 3%, from $14.5 million in the preceding quarter. The photovoltaics segment represented 28% of EMCORE’s consolidated revenue for the first quarter of both fiscal 2009 and 2008.

The company has implemented cost-cutting measures over the past three months, including laying off approximately 160 people, or 17% of the company’s global staff base.

Bill mentoned a couple of new stocks last week. ESLR and CSUN. Very interesting. I used to have ESLR and dumped it after a quick spike. If my memory is correct, ESLR was a problemfor me because they did not have any long term silicon contracts at the time, their financials were a mess, and their technology was inferior in terms of energy generation (by a significant margin) to another solar company out there. After I dumped, I never looked at it again. I do know that I made a killing shorting it on the Fool.com portfolio.

HAHA. I havent looked at the CAPS page on fool.com in quite a while. I currently ranked 764 out of 65393, which rankes in the 98.83 percentile! I am the coolest
You are too funny, Newman! lol

I was thinking the same damn thing today about the ghost town thing. It is kind of like walking under the bleachers after a football game when the crowd is gone and picking up dropped popcorn.

That is a good thing though......because when the next game starts we will be in prime position. That is provided the season doesn't end first....(what a horrible thought)

I don't know what the hell Obama is thinking, but he isn't thinking correctly. Today on FOX Business Network they were yelling at him to listen and to wake up. What neglect to the market. He keeps screaming that this is worse than worse than worse could ever be, that it was handed to him with a red ribbon around it. Damn it Obama, quit blaming and put out some positive, unless you don't want to take some responsibility.

Just pisses me off! There is no excuse for a market like this...it is totally panic driven. The whole U.S. did not come unscrewed until one day when Paulson got up with his nervous little three sheets of paper and then the sky was falling and has been falling ever since.

Give us a break, it is the politicians that screwed up the market and have been making it continuously worse and all for their political gains and motives.

    Ocnf

I love those drys shipping stocks...OCNF is pretty darn cool, especially if it drops. I could really love having that.

ESLR is actually more tempting than EMKR, but EMKR is a lot cheaper and more leverage. CSUN is a great one also......We will just have to keep our eyes on them.

Out of all of them so far, which one would you like to get and why?
