Spending bills /09 / Were is it all going?

This thread is being launched so we can collectively gather information on were our taxes are going, in regards to the current stimulus package.

    Is it pork?

Will it help our economy? If so how long?

Or will it slow down the economy, and damage it?

All comments and ideas are welcome, just try and keep it civil.

It will be interesting to see where our money ends up once the dust settles. I think they could trim off a lot more pork from this bill, and save our money, for us to do with as we see fit.

Guess we wait and see for now. My guess is, it will only work temporarily, then who knows.

If our health care goes the way of Canada / Europe, its not good.

Even though our system is not perfect, its still the best care in the world!
People from around the world come to the US to get care that they can not get in their own countries.
This is not good in my eyes!!!

You are absolutely correct. It has been for shit in Canada and Europe for decades upon decades.

Don't think you are going to get a Doctor...M.D........you will get a state licensed technician for most of your ailments. The Doctor, if serious, will be 3 months down the road and then another 3 months minimum until he can take your case. Have you ever been in the military and sat out in the hall for most of the day? Well, it will be no different as you park your butt on that hard-ass bench waiting with your health records in your hand. Terrible.

    Welcome to Socialism, comrade.

This stimulus package is a f'g joke! It is everything the Libs have wanted, less building new schools, for the last 14 years.

It cracks me up..."Libs" in the market. Isn't that really quite contrarian? They are against the free market, but they want to invest in stocks....(banging head against the wall)....it just doesn't compute.

I am for a free market. The ONLY thing that pisses me off is outsourcing jobs.

For too many years, America has taken the position that "we will be the brain" and the rest of the world will do our jobs for us.

We lack manufacturing (our factories have closed). We are now the I.T. people and don't work for a living. No Sir, we don't want to get our hands dirty. If we had a war with China, I believe that we are dumb enough to give them the contract to build our airplanes.

I am not a protectionist, but we have given so much information and so much technology away that people are now self-sufficient and are running us out of the market place.

I think it is a great time to start manufacturing again and actually doing the work versus being cerebral. This would create jobs........tons of them. The stimulus package for filling potholes and bridges does NOTHING for people with an education. What about MBA's that are out of work....what about other professional people? It is just ass-in-nine.

What about college grads, like myself...am I supposed to go make a living next to an illegal alien? Standing around with a broom or shovel in my hand while 5 other "more qualified" people stand around supervising? Get real.

10 to 1 it will be illegal aliens doing the work. Great job, Congress! You just wasted my grand kids life and savings.

prior to election many presidents were quoted, and comparisons to previous ones were made. " ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" must have fallen on deaf ears. i can't believe the ceo's sitting before our congress holding out thier tin cups for donations. all i can say to them is that "i gave at the office". thats my view for what it's worth.
