If this info is credible, I would think that Echo buying the bonds would likely end up as payment for a couple of satellites. relieving the debt and increasing cash flow possibilities.
Did read however, a comment by a poster to the 1st article, mentioned that specs on XM satellites stated that bandwidth was not compatable?
Mobile video can be transmitted via S-band - correct? This post may very well be wishful thinking, but it may be plausible. Selling two hot-spare satellites to Echostar may be risky, but it could be just the ticket for survival. I'd compare it to selling a kidney...
