Everytime I call to complain, they advise me to write an email as well. I have done both numerous times, along with the occasional hard copy letter to the suits at Sirius. While I find it encouraging that 2 channels were brought back, I don't understand why there has not been an ounce of info released on the status of Boombox. There is way too much buzz going on not to address it.

Zeros and Ones is a damn good show and a tease at the same time. Saturday's show (12/13) was off the hook. Thanks Todd for the great beats! Miss ya!

    +1 wtf?, still waiting.
Glad I have 8 or 9 hours worth of my favorite Boombox saved on my Stiletto.

    Boombox

    Hey everyone,
I just found out about Boombox while searching for general interest in 90s breakbeat rock artists. I am sad to hear that I may have just missed out on an awesome station. What is everyone else turning to as a replacement? Is there a market for an independent internet radio station?
This may have been something to finally allow me consider Satellite Radio. I'm afraid this isn't the case any more.

On a related note: I've been looking to begin collecting a list of artists and songs that have a very heavy breakbeat drum line (a bass guitar is awesome, but not crucial), but are otherwise classic 90s rock. Things like: a few key Sublime songs (See: Scarlett Begonias), a lot of 'Cake' (see: never there), 'Pepper' by Butthole Surfers, The Propellerheads, Beck, and maybe some Prodigy / Chemical Brothers / Fatboy Slim, etc. (Kind of like rock-based chemical breaks / bigbeat). These are all pretty popular songs. I'd like to break into some less known artists with similar qualities (pun intended!). This is for a small side project / research project. I'd love to discuss this further with anyone who is interested: frikker@gmail.com

    Thanks!
    Blaine

Yup you missed the boat on Boombox but there are other good music sources out there.. search for Stonelions and see my sig for Slacker and Pandora. Slacker is very nice I even have it streaming directly to my home AV uni through the Sony Bravia Internet link. Good breakbeat etc. mixes are out there.. Sirius/XM just sunk their boat

On another note I do have Chill now on my DirecTV (XM) which is nice, Chill does have some of that boomboxy(db) feel eclecticism that I've always enjoyed.

I'm down from three to one Sirius unit, one left in a vehicle which I cannot cancel (according to Sirius) due to it being in the first year of a two year prepaid term. I pretty much still cringe when hearing the mixes on " Alt " channels but still do enjoy the talk stuff. I'll probably hang on to it and would love to be proven wrong about Sirius/XM management being idiots if they do return the BB..

    How to save BOOMBOX

I do not want to cancel, I want BOOMBOX back!

If it doesn't return, and they don't expand their electronic stations, I will probably cancel.
It was probably THE most amazing Electronic music station I have ever heard in my life.

    From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boombox_(Sirius) :

    -----snip-----

Boombox was a Breakbeat and rock remix radio station on Sirius Satellite Radio channel 39 and DISH Network channel 6034.

Started by DJ Liquid Todd, Boombox had a format consisting of breakbeat music genres including old school breaks, nu skool breaks, drum and bass, rock remixes, bootlegs and mashups (sometimes referred to as Bastard Pop). DJs on the channel included Liquid Todd and DJ Icey. Guest DJs appeared on the channel each Friday night at 10pm EST for the "Boombox Mix Session" feature.

As of November 12th, 2008, Sirius repurposed this channel for "Pop2K," which plays mainstream/top-40 pop from the 2000's. No electro-rock [or breakbeat] alternative has been provided.

    -----snip-----

It was replaced with another pop station. No love for Electronic music lovers? The only way to get this station back ( or others that people love ) is to email SiriusXM, call SiriusXM, send SiriusXM letters, communicate with the SiriusXM company and tell them what you want or what they did that you don't like. That is the ONLY way things are going to change. Their Electronic music selection is seriously lacking, there are really only 2 stations worthwhile listening to (not including Chill). Bring BoomBox back!

Want BOOMBOX back (or another station)? CALL THEM, EMAIL THEM, TELL THEM, COMPLAIN!
Complain to SiriusXM as to what you want changed.
Posting here isn't going to do anything in terms of making changes, its just being used to vent, SiriusXM doesn't read these forums. Contact SiriusXM to request the changes you want! Use your voice as a subscriber and complain, request BOOMBOX back, or quit the service if you want to send the strongest message and if you are no longer satisfied, like me (and others).

I hope they bring it back, they brought back an R&B station (Backspin) and a DISCO station (Strobe) due to "POPULAR DEMAND". Maybe they'll bring back our favorite Electronic station if enough people complain!?

    Proof that "Popular Demand" WORKS:

    -----snip-----

Come on Guys keep it up, looks like they are adding two channels that they cut (Strobe, Backspin) on Janurary 15th.
Lets keep filling thier mailbox and phone lines until thye give us breakbeat..I just sent other letter, I hope you will too!
Come on!!! Check out the article:

Strobe and Backspin back by popular demand:

Can we do the same for Boombox?

Bumping this (I hope that's allowed?)

We need about 3000 to 4000 people to complain and email them before they will re-add this station, as per another thread I read on another site.

Please send a quick email, call, threaten to cancel (or cancel), as you see fit, and perhaps they will re-add this channel. We must show that it is popular and profitable and people want to listen to it, before they will bring it back such as they brought back Strobe and Backspin.

    Cheers

    Bumping this information:

Please at the least call AND email to save BoomBox.
Threaten to cancel (or cancel if you aren't happy) and tell them it's because they removed BoomBox, and you want it back.

I was searching for a streaming internet station "like boombox" when I came back across this thread. I'm working on streaming music through my iPhone (free with data plan) and using my ipod adapter in the car. So far Pandora works great. Looking for live shows like Proton Radio but in the format of Boombox.

If Sirius doesn't add it back in January we're canceling all 10 of our subscriptions. I've called, sent letters, started the petition you linked, and it all feels like a big waste because the responses I'm getting are "canned" and they suggest that I'll gladly swallow alt nation as a healthy alternative...

I have not heard any Electronic music on "Alt Nation" at all, even on weekends, and I've checked on Fridays/Saturdays/Sundays. A "weekend show" is not going to replace a full station I listened too all week long.

January 9th is my cutoff date. Some of the (House) music they play on Sirius 36 is ok, I like a handful of songs, but some is getting repetitive, and the trance station is hit or miss. Regardless, there is more to electronic music than just House and Trance, and it's a disservice to Electronica fans like all of us to only have these stations available.

Breakbeat is where my heart is, and what I spin.

For an alternative at home/work, I've been listening to http://www.di.fm
They have a premium service also for only $59.40/Year.
This gives you access to their "Premium" streaming channels so instead of 96K, you get them at 192K, and the sound is amazingly better (try the 2 day pass for $2.00).
I listen to their Breakbeat station, and sometimes the trance or drum and bass stations. I also suggested these in an email I sent to Jon Zellner (S.VP of Music Programming), the CEO, and the S.VP of Entertainment.

Other online radio stations I've tried and like:
    http://www.pandora.com
    http://www.last.fm

As for music in my car, the only thing I can think of is to fill up my iPOD with my favorite stuff, which is going to take time to compile, and then just use that to listen to breaks and such. I do listen to other music here and there, but without Boombox, my heart just isn't into Sirius XM, so why pay for it. I'd rather pay for Premium service for the internet radio station, DI.FM.

Bump. Keep calling and emailing them!
