It only took the car a veryshort time to get to the main way of transportation while your hybrids will maybe in the 13% range in 20 years it only took cars that long to almost totally replace horse draw carts. Ho yes that all happen without the infrustructure like roads. As a matter of fact cars were the reason for the infrastructure.
