Some things to think about after "other reading".

Religious nuts everywhere who believe that their myths should be respected; killing doctors and others for those “pro-life” beliefs; religions that condemn birth-control, condom use to prevent disease and that obviously care not for the lives of adherents only their ideology;

Conservative politicians who hate the others and care more for power and money than the country and its citizens;

Democrats who have no will to fight for what's right because they have been bought, want reelection at any cost and are spineless; the word politics means doing what looks good;

Corporations that have rarely, if ever, cared about people only profits and will do whatever it takes to prevent anyone from exposing and regulating them; and citizens that like it that way; after all, healthcare for our citizens will likely “hurt” corporations; can’t have that;

A Supreme Court that has five ideologues rather than fair jurists;

A military that has crazed christianists heavily distributed among the officer corps, and feels that a “god” is only on their and this country’s side; others are evil and should be controlled by us;

A media that has never been liberal and is now more stupid and beholden to money and power than ever before; media conglomeration that has facilitated this; and a profit-only mentality that feeds the public’s interest in superficial celebrity/sports/entertainment driven “news;”

Those that are anti-science and anti-intellectual being given as much time as they want to promote their ridiculous and dangerous ideas and propaganda; print and cable outlets that are devoted to delivering this crap; citizens with no critical thinking skills, lazy, and, as such, are prey for manipulation and propaganda; self-help and phony “motivational” hucksters raking in millions by claiming to supply ordinary people and corporations with essential rules for life and work; “you too can succeed beyond your wildest dreams”;

Free-market and capitalist cultists that want the wealthy to get even richer because they have bought the propaganda that “you can be a millionaire too” and the rich help us;

Islamist and other religious fanatics killing their own people and others to get to heaven, allah and to get those virgins; we have no real interest in understanding and stopping them effectively but instead just want to kill them all;

A society that has become authoritarian; politicians using fear who see it can be used to control; one result is an approval by us of massive, costly unnecessary militarism that feeds corporations, that then contribute some of that money to politicians who support this charade;

Anyone speaking out against any of these problems being accused of being a subversive; one who is un-American, a socialist, a communist, an atheist, a liberal, someone who hates our free-market, god-given capitalistic society;
