It's actually a good article and he's right about SIRI and XM by themselves being failures, they were as individual standards..Hence why they merged.
McIntyre's definition of failure is referring mainly to stock price and profits.
Fair enough.
Notwithstanding that, particularly taking issue with Sirius
and Youtube, these are significant technological breakthroughs.
They don't come cheap.
And unlike Vista, these two applications work incredibly well,
and have significant untapped upside. Personally, I use Youtube
and Siri most every single day, several times a day. Have they Failed
in my mind. Of course not. They're still here, kicking ass.
The word "failure" according to Merriam Webster is "an omission
or occurrence of performance."
Anyone who follows Siri can't help but note that not only does
the product deliver, but tech changes down the road, particulary
the Ipod app, will mark a significant upgrade in "performance."
I don't think the word "failure" is appropriate here. If the Lord built
the Universe in 7 days, on Wednesday would you be calling it a
Failure?
I would if God had to make a deal with the Devil to get it done..!!:p
But the point was that as stand alone companies with their competing Bussiness models they both would have failed and went BK and maybe disappeared.Hence why the merger..Now vthey will thrive as one co.
I think he did! (considerin all the crap going
on in the world) - there was some kind of
arrangement, some kind of back room dealin had to be
goin on - there had to be...
Agreed - on your point concerning the merger.
