Are you freakin’ kidding me? The world used to hate us, now they are laughing at us! Before you assume that I’m referring to the financial bailout fiasco that crashed the markets today, you may want to sit down.
No, the joke that is the United States House Of Politicians (not representatives, because they sure don’t care much about representing me), that today threw the American economy into the the beginning of another great depression is not the subject of this post.
No. Not at all. The truly repulsive act of the day, goes to Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), who TODAY of all days, thought it might be a good idea to introduce a new bill before Congress! You all may remember that slimeball Markey from the FCC fiasco relating to the Sirius XM merger.
With the country on the brink of collapse, this piece of crap decided today to introduce a bill that will MANDATE that HD Radio be included in all Satellite Radio receivers!
Markey said his bill seeks to address the long-term competitive health of local radio “while ensuring that their local, digital services are readily received by radio consumers.”
The bill has the support of a bipartisan group of Energy and Commerce Committee House members who co-sponsored H.R. 7157, including Lee Terry (R-NE), Charlie Gonzalez (D-TX), Greg Walden (R-OR), Joe Wilson (R-SC), and Dan Burton (R-IN).
The Act also seeks to do what the FCC failed to do when it approved the historic merger between satcasters Sirius and XM on July 25. That was the time for the regulatory body to require radio manufacturers to require HD Radio capability be included on all satellite receivers, believes FCC Commissioner Jonathan Adelstein. During a Sept. 19 commissioner’s breakfast at the NAB Radio Show/R&R Convention in Austin, the commissioner, an opponent of the merger, played down the commission’s recent official public inquiry which seeks comment on making forcing HD Radio technology be included on satellite receivers and expressed doubt that the commission now has the legal authority to enforce such a requirement.
At this point, Congress has proved itself inept and unable to operate to the benefit of the American public.. I urge all Americans to vote out of office EVERY incumbant member of Congress. It is the only way to get our country back.
Fire them now are you kidding me they should have been fired years ago, let the tax payers run this country, they pay for it, we all would make better money moves.

also the bill is dated the 27th – granted thats saturday and might be BS to hide the fact that today the bill was introduced.

Let me type slower. Satellite digital radio service is satellite radio.
Terrestrial digital radio services is HD radio.
The bill wants terrestrial digital (hd) to be included at satellite radio expense in all satellite receivers that also get am/fm.

I am a die hard satellite radio subscriber and investor who sent an e-mail blasting markey for being in bed with hd radio. I just wanted to make sure I had my facts straight before i yell at the senator for being corrupt.
turns out hd radio is more of a scam that I thought:
“HD Radio” is the proprietary trademark for iBiquity’s in-band on-channel (IBOC) technology, which was selected by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in 2002 as the only current digital audio broadcasting technology for AM and FM broadcasting in the United States.[3] According to iBiquity’s website, “…The ‘HD’ in ‘HD Radio’ does not mean ‘high-definition’ or ‘hybrid digital’. Most of San Diego’s congressional delegation voted against the proposed $700 billion bailout on Monday.
Rep. Darrell Issa of Vista called the plan as a “bad deal for taxpayers.”
“The American people spoke clearly and forcefully against this bailout scheme, which was crafted by a privileged few meeting behind closed doors,” Darrell Issa said.
Also voting against the proposal was Rep. Brian Bilbray, Rep. Bob Filner, and Rep. Duncan Hunter. Rep. Susan Davis voted in favor of the measure.

Seems Issa would like for SIRI XM to get the needed funding. Why would Issa lead the charge against the bailout? Issa’s company stock DEIX is sucking wind. They need a big order from SIRI. SIRI needs a loan.

No. I can tell you from experience that Markey will not answer you if you are not a resident in his district. We must contact our own reps and tell them that we are opposed to this communistic idea, and that we will vote accordingly.

Bottom line – There is only one asshole in all of this, and that would be George W Bush. As long as he is in office, don’t expect ANYTHING to get better.
