"The Bill Carter Interview" will air exclusively on SiriusXM's Insight channel 121, the groundbreaking news, information, and entertainment radio channel offering intelligent conversation with an edge. SiriusXM has not yet announced an exact date for the show to launch, but did indicate that the show will debut this summer. "The Bill Carter Interview" will broadcast on Mondays at 6:00 pm ET the new program will feature in-depth interviews with some of the most-talked about figures in the country. ]]> 0 SiriusXM Gets “FOXier” Wed, 24 Jun 2015 19:44:10 +0000 → Read More]]> 6-23 foxSiriusXM and Fox News have joined forces in the creation of a new news channel that will launch this Fall. The channel will be called Fox News Headlines 24/7, and in contrast to current Fox offerings on SiriusXM, will be geared toward radio. Currently, many popular news channels on television simulcast the coverage to satellite radio. This concept is fine for most instances, but the medium of radio does indeed differ from television, thus, having a show built for a radio audience is a welcomed addition.

Fox News Headlines 24/7 will be staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. FOX News Senior Vice President of News Jay Wallace will oversee operations of the new channel, in addition to his current responsibilities managing news at FNC. The channel will pull from available resources at FOX News, FOX Business Network, FOX News Radio,, and

The news is quite interesting considering that Fox and SiriusXM have, at times, had a contentious relationship. There have been periods of time where Fox content was not available on the satellite radio providers service. This deal likely points to the successes that SiriusXM has had in carrying Fox content, and in the value that Fox sees in the satellite radio platform. This channel will garner a pre-set on my dial. Stay Tuned!

Jeff Foxworthy and Larry The Cable Guy Team Up With SiriusXM Mon, 16 Mar 2015 14:26:34 +0000 → Read More]]>

Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy will not only contribute, but serve as executive producers of a new channel of exclusive comedy material that listeners will not hear anywhere other than at the comedy stars' live comedy shows. Comedy channels have been a staple on Sirius XM since its inception. They oft provide a needed break from news programming and music channels. Foxworthy and Larry are well known and respected in Comedy and bring a brand of humor that is a great match for the satellite waves. The new comedy channel will debut later this year.

Jeff Foxworthy is one of the most respected and successful comedians in the country. He is the largest selling comedy-recording artist in history, a multiple Grammy Award nominee and best-selling author of more than 26 books. He was recently inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame for his accomplishments. Jeff will once again be hosting the FOX television game show Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader, set to premiere in 2015.

Larry the Cable Guy is a multiplatinum recording artist, Grammy nominee, Billboard award winner and one of the top comedians in the country. His television shows, comedy and variety specials have all been ratings successes, and he has appeared in many successful films, including as the voice of the beloved Mater in the Golden Globe Award-winning animated feature film, "Cars."

The new channel from Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy joins a robust comedy lineup on SiriusXM featuring Comedy Central Radio, Jamie Foxx's The Foxxhole channel, Carlin's Corner, Laugh USA, and Raw Dog Comedy Hits and more.

SiriusXM teaming up with the duo is a natural solution that could well benefit both parties in this equation. Foxworth and Larry The Cable Guy get to continue to expand their brand and awareness, while SiriusXM gets to capitalize on that same brand and awareness. The biggest winner may well be satellite radio subscribers that receive unparallelled content that is simply not available elsewhere.

SiriusXM and PGA Extend Relationship Wed, 04 Feb 2015 16:06:14 +0000 → Read More]]> pgaSiriusXM and the PGA have announced an extension to their contract which will give golf fans nation wide coverage through 2017. The PGA has been a satellite radio staple for years, and though Tiger Woods is not the golfer he used to be, the sport still has plenty of passionate fans. SiriusXM listeners have access to approximately 24 hours of live golf coverage each week, including hole-by-hole action and expert analysis on the only radio channel dedicated to professional golf.

"We are extremely pleased to continue our relationship with SiriusXM and bring comprehensive coverage and analysis throughout the PGA TOUR season," said PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem. "SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio has proven to be a tremendous asset to the TOUR by providing a means to follow the competition live when you're traveling or otherwise away from the TV."

"PGA TOUR coverage is an important piece of our sports programming lineup and we're excited to continue our work with the TOUR to deliver our subscribers in-depth, high level broadcasts throughout the season," said Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM's President and Chief Content Officer. "With on-course play-by-play each day of tournament play and commentary from some of the best voices on the air, this coverage truly brings listeners inside the ropes at these events, no matter where they happen to be listening from."

Launched in June 2005, SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio features a variety of broadcasters working on comprehensive play-by-play coverage, including former TOUR winners Mark Carnevale, Bill Kratzert, Mark McCumber, Dennis Paulson, Paul Stankowski and Phil Tataurangi. Earl Forcey will once again anchor the coverage most weeks, with Fred Albers, Doug Bell, Will Haskett, Mark Immelman, Bill Rosinski and Tom Werme among those returning to provide exclusive play-by-play coverage and player interviews from inside the ropes.

The ability of SiriusXM to continue to wrap up content such as this demonstrates that satellite radio continues to be a main distribution channel for content. In this digital age, one might think that organizations would explore more diverse opportunities. As yet, this has not happened. Each contract extension helps to further cement SiriusXM as an entertainment mainstay.

Opie & Jim Norton Stay At Sirius XM Thu, 02 Oct 2014 23:00:08 +0000 → Read More]]> 10-3 opie and jimThe waiting is over and Opie and Jim Norton have announced that the pair will remain at SiriusXM. The news came out with a bit of confusion for some listeners because of the difference in meaning of "resign" and "re-sign". The duo re-signed. The moment is somewhat bittersweet in that it means that Opie and Jim Norton will not be reunited with long-time but fired partner Anthony Cumia.

Details of the new contract are not widely available, but on the "Opie With Jim Norton Show" both hosts stated that they got what could be determined as "modest" raises. Jim Norton did not receive "Anthony Cumia" money. It was also announced that the pair will do "some Fridays." Ron Bennington, who's show with Fez moved from the Opie & Anthony channel to a comedy channel will host some of the Friday shows.

Fans are split over the meaning of the re-signing. Some have expressed disappointment that a possible reunion with Anthony Cumia seems more distant. Some fans seem to feel that Opie and Jim Norton "sold out" and took long a lucrative contract instead of making a statement against the firing of Cumia and leaving SiriusXM. meanwhile other fans like the fact that Opie and Jim Norton will remain on SiriusXM's airwaves. There is no right or wrong answer to feelings. The forced split this summer in the show has simply brought out the passionate opinions of fans. Whether the three could have "made it" with a subscription podcast service will have to be something that will remain unanswered.

SiriusXM, because it is mostly uncensored (the FCC does not censor the shows, but SiriusXM does have certain rules of its own) is a natural home and platform for "shock-jocks". If the duo were not on satellite, they could be relegated to a podcast, which makes it much more difficult to make the same amount of money.

Listeners will certainly miss Anthony, but the show has remained compelling without him and he is regularly referenced on the show in one way or another. Opie and Jim Norton need to grow into their show and place their own brand on it, but that is made easier by the fact that Jim Norton has been on the show for quite some time.

Are you a fan of the show? Share your opinions!
