Bubba The Replay Love Sponge Speaks Out
Just a few minutes ago Bubba The Love Sponge took the time to address his fans by posting for all to see on the forms of his own website btls.com. What he has said has done very little to ease the pain of his loyal fans as they continue to lash out at Sirius XM customer service and on forums across the net.
The following is what was recently posted (spelling errors included):
“Hello evefyone, and yes i have read the postings, i have recieved some phone calls, and i know you are upset. I knew this would happen. If there is one thing i know, its my audience and what they want and expect. i would like to address some issues here and now. i dont know if i can talk about these issues on air, so i will do my best to do it here
1. “bubba sold us out” “bubba worked us” you have no idea how much this hurts and disturbs me. i begged sirius not to take this option, we had other options and this was the last last last one, that they took, due to the economy. they could not continue to pay us what we deserved for an exclusive show, so as a last ditch effort they decided on this…again, i am not happy about it and i am sorry, but why am i to blame.
2. 2 years ago when they refused to give me a fair deal, they basically told me in order to get the money you think you deserve go do regular radio if you think you can….and they told me that i would fail, rather than to pay us, they bet against us…….this is the reason why we are in the situation right now….so we went on and did well at regular radio. again why are we the bad guys…
3. the only thing us guys wanted was to get our lives back…my health has gotten worse, my marriage isnt doing that well, and i never ever get to spend anytime with my kids….i would leave my house at 430am in the morning and not get back till 8pm and go right to bed…..why do i have to do two shows in order to make the kind of money that other radio personallities do for 4 hours a day…..again, why is this my fault..
4. i am sorry if you felt i betrayed you, thats the last thing i wanted.
i know you are going to cancel your raw subs, i know you wont buy any more merch, i know this is a shit storm, and i am sorry for all of that,
but i will trade all of that for what i got to do today, i got to pick up my kids from school today, and take them out to dinner, and then we went on a bike ride as a family……
again, i am very sorry you feel this way, and i hope something some day gets us all back together the way we used to be….

I have never heard Bubba’s show, but I will now. He sounds very human. Family is more important than listeners. If SIRIUS survives this ‘almost depression’ I am sure they will reconsider. If they go under we won’t have any shows. Isn’t it better to have some rather than none?
Riley Martin gets what $400 per show? He only works once a week for Sirius so I hope Bubba is only getting that much.

He asks the Army to help him out by showing what support he has and then he refuses to support us.
Asshole. He would have been much better to leave Sirius and just go for the money. Why waste everyones time with one show a week of swearing, having dudes make out and playing with grizzly bears.
Bubba – I`m not signing for another Army tour. Have fun on terrestrial, but get the fuck off satellite. I`d rather see the slot go to someone who cares about their fanbase. You wouldn`t have your terrestrial spot without satellite. Don`t forget that.

I just cancelled my subscription to Sirius today. I have subscribed to Sirius since October of 2004. The fact that the management at Sirius would not pay to have exclusive rights to Bubba the Love Sponge is unbelievable to me. I will not pay to listen to a rebroadcast of a censored terrestrial show. I would have kept Sirius even if Howard retired, if Bubba had taken over from Howard. Now what is Sirius going to do? Go down in flames, I hope.
I don’t listen to the show, just read this out of curiosity. What kind of money does this guy make?? His reasons (especially #3) are pretty laughable.. Now I want to see this guy try working as hard as (probably the majority of the his listeners) for a fraction of his pay.
Couldn’t tell us on the 19th because he would get sued? Or marks like me who purchase SIRI prior to Howard coming on the end of 2004 would no renue for another year. Good for the crew not having to do 2 shows which I’m sure is a grind, but why work me to re-up for a year, get my cash up front, and change the format. During the week all I do is 101 which is why in these economic times I made the choice continue with this service when I was assured on the 19th while the rest of the channels content like RawDog or Lithium might change 101 is going to be the same Bubba is back for 2 years, or at least thats what the Sirius homepage stated. They got me on the stock, and now my 47 cents a day, what else can they get from me.
Bubba is second in ratings on Sirius/XM next to Howard. Why does he not deserve FU money like the rest of the hack talent on Sirius/XM (i.e. Martha Stewart, Oprah Winfrey)? I purchased Sirius 4 years ago for Howard and was introduced to BTLS and now I’m a huge mark.
Watered-down Bubba is better than no Bubba. Blame Sirius/XM and a sh*tty economy and stock price not Bubba.
sirus needs to get rid of the person who over pays non radio who dont entertain us and pay the people who bring subscribers in. i live in california and get up at 3am to listen to bubba on the internet for free.but i would pay.when you call sirus customer service and ask for a phone number to sirus corp and they say that they dont have it or they cant give me the mailing adress.if some one hase put it on the page we need to over load them with letters.someone in the sirus mgt needs to be fired. ed california

Hey bubba, get used to the regular working mans day buddy! You make all this money and you are bitching about how much you have to work. I bet most of your listeners work just as hard as you and if not harder and get paid a 10th of what you guys make!! Good Ridance…I mean I listened to you when I lived in FL and loved you. Then I moved and listened to you the second I found you were coming to satelite radio. I will not miss you now that I know you are bitching all about money…Good F#$KIN RIDDANSE.
Give me a break guys. You are pissing and moaning about how he isn’t starving, and that he should just work, what ever hours that means. Have ANY of you talked for 8 hours strait for 5 days a week, 45+ weeks a year? On top of that his show makes MONEY for the company, why wouldn’t you want your proper cut of that money?
Oh, I know he is supposed to just work for pittance when the company is making bank off of him. THAT IS BULLSHIT. Bubba has always taken pride in his work, and time after time he makes his show either #1 or damn near.
You say that he made the contracts it is his fault. Really? So you put out a million dollar product, market it, build it from the ground up, and KNOW what it is worth, and the company comes along and says “nope, you guys actually suck, and we think it is worth 50% of what it used to be worth. Go and try to make it somewhere else if you don’t believe us.” Your pansy ass would just take it and say “ok, you are probably right, I am only worth crap….” YEAH RIGHT! THE BEST ARE THE BEST BECAUSE THEY WORK HARD AND KNOW THEY ARE THE BEST.
Bubba-good going and I hope your new venture works perfect. I didn’t buy sirius just for bubba, I liked to catch him some times, but only wish him the best of luck in the future.

LOL Bubba was a legend in the Bay area FAR before satellite radio ever existed. He dominated for a decade on two major FM stations in Tampa before he left. He is now dominating on another major FM station.
You all can be as upset about this as you wantt o be, but get your facts straight.
